A Sanondaf Case Study: A Review of a Novel Decontamination Method for an HVAC System

Disinfection decontamination

This study showed that hydrogen peroxide delivered as a dry mist can effectively decontaminate entire HVAC systems, including ductwork, filters, and connected rooms.

The method was applied in both a healthcare facility and a cleanroom laboratory where ongoing contamination had been traced to the ventilation system.

By introducing the disinfectant directly into the air-handling units and allowing it to circulate through the system, areas normally inaccessible to manual cleaning were treated effectively.

Environmental monitoring conducted after treatment confirmed successful decontamination. The results show that whole HVAC system disinfection can be achieved safely and reliably using this approach.
