Health officials in Scotland have been getting Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) disinfected so it can be reused.

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, the country’s largest health board, has suffered one of the highest amount of Covid-19 infections and deaths since the outbreak began. Amid a shortage of PPE, Sanondaf UK have been assisting to decontaminate some items of PPE worn by frontline staff in order to make them available to be reused.

The trial, led by senior clinicians, is exploring this process in order to analyse its efficacy and sustainability.

“During our trials, we examined PPE to see whether it was reusable. Not every mask that has been worn needs to be thrown in the bin. We found that 95% of those masks were completely reusable. This could be an instant solution to the PPE problem.”  Managing Director of Sanondaf UK, Stuart White.

Sanondaf continues to offer new and practical solutions to current and emerging health care challenges.

With clients ranging from the NHS andresearch laboratories to housing and public health providers, Sanondaf are the UK’s leader in specialist disinfection and decontamination services.
